SU Men’s Soccer Clinch CAC Title With Win Over Wesley

The Salisbury University men’s soccer team clinched the CAC regular season title Wednesday with a 2-0 win over Wesley. The win improves the Sea Gulls to 11-3-3, while the loss drops the Wolverines to 9-8-1.

Salisbury would control the ball in the first part of the game, as Matt Greene and company were able to get a couple good shots off on goal, but weren’t able to put any of them home. Midway through the first half, Salisbury University would strike first after a beautiful through ball from Greene would find Leslie Umunna, who would beat the keeper for the score. The Wolverines then looked to find the equalizer as they aggressively got the ball to Adrian Coverdale and Will Mileski who would both get great shots off. None would find the back of the net though as Drew Staedeli would come up with 4 great saves in the first half. SU continued to push in the second half as the would push their lead to 2-0 after Greene found Brooks Zentgraf who would head it home. Wesley would keep coming, but never was able to find the back of the net.

With the win, SU clinches the regular season title for the CAC and earns a 1 seed and bye in the conference tournament. Wesley on the other hand earns the 3 seed and will host St. Mary’s on Saturday.
