SU Women’s Soccer Loses Heartbreaker In PK’s

The number four seed, Salisbury University women’s soccer team, took the field in the first round of their conference tournament Saturday afternoon against the number five seed, Mary Washington. Just one week ago, these two teams faced one another resulting in a 3-1 win for the Gulls, but Saturday’s game was not what SU had imagined.

The game was fought hard on both sides of the ball – with both teams just a post away from a goal, but the game would remain scoreless throughout regulation and would continue scoreless through double-overtime. Heading into penalty kicks, the Gulls kicked first:

CAC No. 5 Mary Washington: 1. Shannon Blackstone – MISSED; 2. Christiana Meyers – MISSED; 3. Leah Roth – MADE; 4. Marisa Madaras – MADE; 5. Kaitlyn Higgins – MADE
CAC No. 4 Salisbury: 1. Jenna DeLetto – MISSED; 2. Jenny Gavigan – MISSED; 3. Rachel Anderson – MADE; 4. Victoria Luc – MISSED; 5. Christine Clark – MADE

Mary Washington takes down SU in PK’s 3-2 and advances in the CAC Tournament.

The Gulls season is not officially one for the books as they still have the chances to be selected for a bid into the DIII NCAA Tournament.
