Three pounds of marijuana seized in Dorchester Co., two charged

Two people have been arrested, after they were apparently found to be mailing large amounts of marijuana to and from California. The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office says on Friday, members of the Dorchester County Narcotics Task Force, with assistance from other law enforcement agencies, searched two Cambridge properties.
The searches were prompted during an joint investigation into large amounts of marijuana that were being smuggled from California to Maryland, using standard Parcel service deliveries. During the searches, Investigators say they found 1,606.5 grams of marijuana – 3.58 pounds, $896 in cash, and various types of paraphernalia.
Police say they made two arrests, 31-year-old Larron Dru Fletcher, and 20-year-old Niveyshka Marie Torres, both of Cambridge. Fletcher was charged with failure to obey a lawful order, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, and held on a $45,000 bond. Torres was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia, and held on a $10,000 bond.
Assisting agencies included the Metropolitan Area Drug Task Force, Caroline County Narcotics Task Force, Wicomico County Narcotics Task Force, Maryland State Police Gang Unit, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office, Cambridge Police Department, Maryland State Police and the Dorchester County State’s Attorney’s Office.
