UPDATE: Police continue fatal crash investigation

Police are continuing to investigate a fatal crash that killed a woman on Saturday evening.

The crash happened just after 9:00 p.m. Saturday on DuPont Boulevard, south of West Robbins Road.

The preliminary investigation has revealed that 56-year-old Cheryl Green was apparently traveling southbound in the northbound lanes with no headlights on. That’s when police say 49-year-old Pennsylvania man Tristin Lowe was traveling northbound and struck Green’s car.

Green’s vehicle spun and stopped in the roadway, facing east, while Lowe’s car came to rest in the median.

A short time later, police say a car pulling a trailer driven by 68-year-old Massachusetts man Peter Gray approached Green’s car which was disabled in the road. This operator also could not see the minivan in the roadway and struck the right side of the vehicle in the right lane.

Green was not properly restrained at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Lowe was properly restrained at the time of the crash and was removed from the scene by EMS. He was then transported to the Milford Memorial Hospital for his non-life threatening injuries and released.

Gray was properly restrained at the time of the crash was removed by EMS. He was transported to the Beebe Medical Center and was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

After the initial two crashes on the US 113 northbound side, police say another crash occurred on US 113 southbound as a car driven by 49-year-old Rory Monroe had slowed down.

Another car driven by William Townsend was also southbound directly behind Monroe’s car and struck the vehicle with its front bumper.

Townsend and his passenger Mary Terrell were properly restrained in the crash and were uninjured in the crash.

Monroe and his passenger Cheryl Monroe were properly restrained at the time of the crash. Rory Monroe was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Beebe Medical Center. He was treated for his non-life threatening injuries and released. Chery Monroe was uninjured in the crash.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing the investigation into this incident.
