Maryland state employess rally statewide

On Thursday, Maryland state and university employees held rallies statewide
to demand fair pay raise, fair treatment at work, and the financial resources necessary to provide public services from the Hogan Administration.
In Salisbury, organizers and state employees met at a parking lot by Route 13 to discuss the changes they’d like to see as Maryland employees. The theme Thursday evening was “Maryland should be open for families, not just business” meaning that they wanted job opportunities that pay enough to be able to support their families.
Anissa Pierce-Sessoms, an employee from the Worcester County Health Department says, “We want to open communication with legislators and the governor to let them know what we are expecting as state workers. I want my son to be able to share the same experience as I have as being a state worker to him not having to go anywhere else to look for jobs.”
Organizers of the rally say this one of the first steps in bringing attention to the issue. They plan on continuing rallies in different Worcester and Cecil county in the next few weeks.
