Racial slurs found on school buses

It's a way to start the school week.

Cape Henlopen School officials say racist comments were spray painted on to two school buses.

"Im offended by it. Im offended by it every time it happens no matter where it happens."

Howard Weinberg is just one of the many disgusted by this racist graffiti spray painted on Cape Henlopen district school busses.

"Im offended by it. Im offended by it every time it happens no matter where it happens. I don't really know what kind of experience is happening in schools right now or anything of that nature."

The lot the busses are parked in sits sandwiched between the district admin office and Cape Henlopen high with no fences – or any visible security at all.

However,  resident Drew McKay says that it's going to take more than putting up a fence to solve this problem.

"We need more than that. We need an attitude change. Security fences can be climbed security can be breached. This is not a community that locks down a lot."

The district says in a statement released today that they don't condone this kind of behavior and that it does not in any way reflect the views of our district.

So far police say they don't have any suspects in the case, but they do think the same folks who spray painted the buses also vandalized some buildings and cars in the same area.

In the meantime, community activists say its time to get to the root of the hateful actions.

"I think we need to change the minds and hearts and those people that engage in that need to be coming forward not hiding in the shadows. And lets talk to them about what's behind this."

If you know anything about the vandalism done to the busses or any other of the property's in Lewes you can call Delaware Crime Stoppers 800-TIP-3333.
