Pedestrian killed in fatal New Castle car wreck

Delaware State Police say one pedestrian was killed in an early morning car wreck in New Castle.

Police say the wreck occurred at about 1:45 a.m. on Sunday when 30-year-old Kawana Perry, who had just gotten out of a car and was walking southbound on Interstate 495, was struck by a Hyundai Elantra traveling southbound in the left lane. Perry was thrown onto the left shoulder of the road and taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the Hyundai was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured in the wreck.
