Batchelor Collects Win No. 200 As UMES Tops Cheyney

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women’s basketball team picked up a win Tuesday night when they defeated Cheyney 113-74. The win improves the Hawks to 2-3 and gives Head Coach Fred Batchelor his 200th win of his career.

The Hawks would be in a title battle early on as neither team would be able to grab much of a lead. In the second half, UMES would start to find a rhythm as Alexis Udoji would put together a couple consecutive baskets down low on her way to 9 points and 7 rebounds.. Once the defense sucked in, the outside shots began to start to fall. TeAmber Burke, Moe Subritzky and Alexus Hicks would all connect on shots from down town as they finished with 13 points 14 points and 5 poitns respectively. Their lead would quickly stretch to as many as 30. The defense would do the rest as they would close it out for the win.

UMES returns to work a week from Wednesday when they host Mount St. Mary’s.
