UMES Men’s Basketball Stays Winless, Rocked By Fairfield

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore basketball team is still looking for their first win of the season as they were rocked at home Tuesday night by Fairfield, 113-74. The loss drops the Hawks to 0-4 on the year.
UMES would be in a battle early on, finding themselves down just 14-12 10 minutes into the first half. But the Stags used a 31-6 run to blow the game wide open and take a 21 points lead into the locker room. The Hawks would never be able to overcome the deficit in the second half, as their defense failed them all night.
Devin Martin would lead the way offensively, finishing with 15 points, while freshman Dontae Caldwell with chip in a career high 13. The Hawks return to work Friday when they host St. Francis.
