Collins Earns 200th Win As Hawks Soar High

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore men’s basketball team defeated St. Francis 70-57 on Friday night for their first win of the season. The win improves the Hawks to 1-4 on the year. The win also marked the 200th for Head Coach Bobby Collins in his career.

The Hawks would take advantage of their athleticism and height advantage down low early on as they would grab a small lead. Dominique Elliott and Bakari Copeland would both be very active on the glass and would be able to come up with several second chance points. The Red Flash would find their rhythm offensively to end out the half by moving the ball around and finding Ronnie Drinnon who would had himself a big day, finishing with 15 points and 13 rebounds. UMES would take a 1 point lead into halftime, but come out firing in the second half.

The Hawks came out of the break ready to go though. Devin Martin would spark the offense as he found his shooting touch, connecting on several mid range jumpers. Elliott would continue to dominate in the paint as they finished with a game high 21 points. The defense would do the rest as they would close it out for the win.

UMES returns to action next Tuesday when they travel to play Georgetown.
