OCEAN PINES, Md.- The Ocean Pines the community is coming together to support a family whose home was destroyed in a fire this past weekend.

The organizer of a Facebook group, called  Local Help For you Worcester County, said the group was created to support locals during the pandemic.

She said immediately when the fire broke out they wanted to help the family,  so she created a GoFundMe page.

We’re told since the GoFundMe went up the community support has been overwhelming.

“They are just so giving and amazing and just step up and we had over 300 people donate to the GoFundMe and businesses offering for drops off, we have car fulls of clothes so it just feels really good to be a apart of it,” Colby Phillips, the organizer said.

Phillips said she spoke to the family and they are beyond grateful for the community’s help.

So far the GoFundMe page currently has raised over $9,000.
