Severe weather preparation

With winter approaching, Delmarva Power and the American Red Cross of Delmarva held a conference in Salisbury to remind people how to prepare for the upcoming winter weather.
The cold weather usually means a higher chance of weather related outages as well as household fires. The American Red Cross gave tips on what items to keep around in case of an emergency or a lost of power lost such as flashlights, energy bars, and a first aid kit. Delmarva Power says they are prepared to add more personnel and resources as needed in case of an emergency. However, having households prepared goes a long way if severe weather does hit.
John Allen, the Delmarva Power Region Vice President says, “We always try to go to the excess because those types of things can and do happen although it doesn’t happen in a regular basis for us.”
Officials from both agencies also recommend having the numbers of local emergency first responders and shelters in case of an emergency. Each agency also has a mobile app to get the latest updates.
