Parkside Boys Make Statement In Princess Anne

The Parkside boys basketball team made a statement Tuesday when they traveled down to Washington and came away with a convincing 80-60 win. The Rams improve to 2-0, while the Jaguars drop to 1-1.
The Rams pressure defense created several turnover on the wing early leading to leak out easy bucket. Then even when the Jaguars were able to get back, Washington’s defensive rotations were often late on the weak side, giving up several lay ins as Parkside grabbed a 30-11 lead midway through the second quarter. Gary Briddell had his shot going early as he finished with 9 points in the first quarter, and with 19 in the game. Parkside eventually took a 41-25 lead into the locker room. Second half, and Tyler Paulson would try and will his team back into it. He finished with several buckets down low as they cut into the deficit. Parkside wasn’t going to let the game slip away though, as Xavier Watters continued to light up the scoreboard, finishing with a game high 22 points. Jordan Sterling chipped in 16 points in a losing effort for the Jags.
Parkside returns to work Thursday when they travel to Snow Hill, while Washington travels to Bennett on Friday.
