Relief grant in Wicomico for hotels and motels

In Wicomico County – hotels are getting a pick me up from the state.
This as many of them sit at 25 percent capacity or less.

Salisbury Wicomico Economic Development announced the area will receive a $567,000 hotel and lodging relief grant from the state.

We’re told the money will help to keep staff on the payroll and even for some new renovations.

David Ryan of SWED told us he expects all hotels to do what they can to make up for the revenue shortfall lost during the pandemic.

“Hotels have been one of the last two to recover because of the travel restrictions and then consumer confidence, even if there were no travel restrictions, will consumers have the confidence go to a business event somewhere else, we’ve certainly seen a significant downfall in terms of revenue, in terms of activity in the hotel market.”

If you’re interested in receiving help you can go to SWED.org. You have from Wednesday until next Wednesday, February 4 at 4pm to apply
