Local state employees give back for the holidays

With the holiday season upon us, local state employees decided to give back to those less fortunate.

Local branches of Work in America, American federation of state county and municipal employees and the American federation of labor and congress of industrial organizations all worked together to donate personal supplies to HALO.

Deborah Williams, who coordinated the effort, says she’s surprised by the amount of personal supplies they were able to gather.

“Truly I was (surprised), I really was, because when we did it at first it was like Halo, why Halo? Just like you just said. Why not Halo? You know they’re down trodden, they’re people who need and we’re the ones who are supposed to giving at this time, not receiving,” Williams said. 

The representative from HALO that collected the supplies expressed their extreme thanks for that donation.
