DSP: If you see something suspicious, speak up

A terror attack could happen in your neighborhood, a local business, everywhere.
“If some people are thinking that it can’t happen, just anywhere, well we’ve seen in the news where it can, it can happen just about anywhere.” Sgt. Richard Bratz tells 47 ABC.
As we’ve seen in past weeks, the threat of terrorists operating under the radar is real.
In the wake of the San Bernardino mass shooting, investigators found that neighbors of the shooters apparently knew of the suspicious activity but never reported it.
That’s one of the reasons why Sergeant Richard Bratz and the Delaware State Police are asking the public to be vigilant.
“It definitely makes our job easier because we can’t be everywhere all the time. We definitely need the public’s help to solve crime and keep their communities safer.”
Right now, Bratz tells 47 ABC there are no known or credible terror threats to the state of Delaware.
In order to keep it that way we’re told residents need to be vocal if they see something out of the ordinary.
Meaning something that makes you feel uneasy or if you notice someone acting suspicious.
Sergeant Bratz also says you shouldn’t feel bad for reporting someone.
“I don’t think anybody should feel guilty or discriminatory because they’re trying to take an active leadership role to make sure that their communities are safe.”
He says regardless of what and how something is reported it’s on law enforcement to determine whether someone is a threat.
Sgt. Bratz encourages everyone who may think they see suspicious terror activity to call the Delaware’s Anti-Terrorism Tip Line at 1-800-367-2312.
