JUST IN: Scaletta sentenced

A man found guilty of a felony theft charge, and using false identification on Tuesday, now knows his fate.
Jason Scaletta, the former director of the Veterans Support Center of America PAWS program, was sentenced to ten years in a Wicomico County court, Wednesday morning.
Scaletta was found guilty of a felony theft charge, and using a false ID, misrepresenting himself as an active duty member of the armed forces. According to his official military personnel file, 44 days in basic training with the Army National Guard is the extent of his service.
He used fake documents to get more than $3,000 worth of assistance from a local veterans assistance program, and he posed as a disabled veteran suffering from PTSD, as he ran the dog training program at VSCOA. It provided canines to disabled vets.
In court on Wednesday, Scaletta said quote “everything that occurred was a big mistake,” but went on to explain that he helped people with the assistance dogs. The judge explained on Wednesday, that she didn’t feel any remorse for Scaletta. She did however give him credit for time served in his sentence.
