MARYLAND – Some good news arrives for those who are unemployed, Governor Larry Hogan announced Maryland Department of Labor has begun accepting claims and issuing payments for multiple assistance programs.

Hogan says, Maryland is one of the first states in the nation to have extended unemployment insurance programs. The announcement states, all claimants will receive and email specifying whether they should file their weekly claim certification.

Among the programs assisting claimants are pandemic unemployment assistance, pandemic unemployment emergency compensation, and federal pandemic unemployment compensation.

This comes at a time when many claimants expected their benefits to stop in the new year.
