Local family set out to the Chesapeake Bay to try and find their loved one who went missing
FRUITLAND, Md.- Erik Mezick is still missing after the box truck he was driving went into the Chesapeake Bay Tuesday morning.
Saturday Mezick’s set out to conduct their own search for him.
Police said the 47-year-old, from Fruitland, was driving on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel when, for unknown reasons, it went over and into the water.
Since then, police have not been able to find Mezick.
We’re told his family, including his father, brother, and son, wanted to go out to the bay in hopes of bringing Mezick home and create some closure to this tragic event.
“The fact that Erik has not been found yet, is weighing heavily on the family and their minds and their hearts and I think until he can be found they are going to have wait,” Michael Duncan, a long time family friend, said.
“Even if you can’t financially donate, if you’re in the area and you’re out on the water ways or you have somebody that’s in that area on that waterfront that could see something possibly just anything at this point to bring closure,” Julie Duncan, a long time family friend, said.
The family friends told us the Meziks are grateful for the community’s support during this hard time.
