Salisbury Zoo presents master plan to council

The master plan for the Salisbury Zoo was presented to the Salisbury City Council for input on Monday evening.
The zoo’s director, Ralph Piland, says the Delmarva Zoological Society got a grant through the Maryland Historic Areas Authority to conduct master site planning.
He says it’ll help finish out the zoo’s capital campaign by funding a replacement for the William E. Morgan Visitor’s Center and a portion of the Australia exhibit. The plan is for those changes to come to the zoo within the next few years.
Piland says, “We’re not presenting anything for final approval. We want to touch base with the council as part of the community to make sure that the values, the mission, the vision, and those things that we’re defining as our guiding principles are indeed what they want this zoo to do for the community.”
Piland tells 47 ABC they would like to hear from the public about their vision for the zoo. They can be reached at 410-548-3100.
