Parsonsburg man charged for assaulting parents

Authorities in Wicomico County say they have arrested a man, after he assaulted both of his parents on New Year’s Day. 

The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office say around 6:30 PM, 40- year-old, Ian Schweiger, became irate with his parents, who he lives with at their Old Ocean City Road home in Parsonsburg, leading to a physical altercation.

According to the report, his parents told deputies that Schweiger struck his father, and pushed his mother down a flight of stairs. Soon after, he then allegedly damaged several areas inside the house with a hatchet.

Deputies reportedly responded, and arrested Schweiger and charged him with assault second degree, reckless endangerment, and malicious destruction of property. Following an initial appearance, Schweiger was ordered to be held in the Wicomico County Detention Center, on a $20,000 bond.
