2nd Half Push Lifts Washington By ‘Dawgs

The Washington boys basketball team picked up a home win Thursday night when they topped North Caroline 74-56. The win improves the Jaguars to 5-3, while the loss drops the Bulldogs to 1-7.

The teams would be in a battle early on. Montraz Oliver would get the scoring started for the home team as the Jags would grab a small lead. North Caroline would go on a run to cut the deficit going into halftime, led by David Bailey Jr. who finished with a team high 22 points. Washington would still find themselves in a battle to start the third before the offense really found it’s groove, powered by their press. Jordan Sterling would be the beneficiary of several transition buckets at the rim. The lead would swell to 20, as Washington would close it out for the win.

Washington returns to action again next Tuesday when they travel to Snow Hill, while the Bulldogs return to work Tuesday when they host North Dorchester.
