Man facing drug charges after reportedly hiding behind telephone pole in Denton

A man was arrested, after deputies say he had drugs in his possession and was hiding behind a telephone pole, in Caroline County.
The Caroline County Sheriff's Office says on September 12, deputies responded to the area of Gay Street and 7th Street for a report of a suspicious man hiding behind a telephone pole, in Denton. The caller reportedly told deputies that the man had been standing there for over 20 minutes and was acting very strange. Once on scene, deputies says they noticed 35-year-old Shuron Douglas standing next to the telephone pole holding a bike.
According to the report, Douglas was facing the pole and appeared to be hiding his face behind the pole with his nose touching the pole. At that point, authorities approached Douglas and asked him if he was ok. Douglas was reportedly looking at the deputy with a blank stare on his face and did not respond. When asked again if he was ok, deputies say Douglas jumped as if the deputy scared him even though he had been staring at the deputy for approximately one minute. Douglas apparently refused to answer deputies after asked several more times if he was ok. Through training and experience, the deputy determined that the 35-year-old was under the influence of some type of controlled dangerous substance.
The Caroline County Sheriff's Office say due to extreme levels of intoxication Douglas was not able to care for himself and could be left alone on the street. Authorities reportedly spent 20 minutes trying to get Douglas to give a address or phone number in efforts to get him home safely. After further investigation, law enforcement learned that Douglas had PCP in his possession.
Douglas was arrested and charged with CDS possession not marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
