Two arrested, one sought after Harrington traffic stop

Police in Harrington say they have arrested two people, and are looking for a third, after the trio attempted to flee during a traffic stop.

Harrington Police say on Sunday just after 10:45 PM, Officers on patrol stopped a vehicle for a suspended registration, on Liberty Street near Thomas Street. According to the report, as the vehicle stopped, all three occupants got out, and attempted to flee.

Two Officers, and a K-9 unit then gave chase, and followed them. Officials say the K-9 Officer ordered one of the suspects to stop, or they’d release the K-9, at which the suspect chose to lay on the ground, and be taken into custody.

Police say they were able to arrest two of the three occupants, 21-year-old Evelio Alvarez, of Ellendale, and 22-year-old Jorden Luff, of Milton, and bring them in for questioning. The two apparently refused to give up who the third suspect was, and were charged with hindering prosecution, and resisting arrest.

Alvarez was additionally charged with several traffic summons, and 8 active capias that were out for him, from several different courts. He is now being held at the Sussex Correctional Institute on a $36,167 cash only bond, while Luff was released, pending a future court date.

Police say the third occupant of the vehicle still hasn’t been identified. They are asking anyone who may have information about this incident to contact the Harrington Police Department at 302-398-4493 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
