Police: Laurel man arrested for 8th DUI

Police have  arrested a Laurel man and charged him with 8th DUI offense.

According to police, 42-year-old William McGeehan was arrested Sunday morning after he drifted across the center line of John J. Williams Highway near Layton Davis Drive and struck another car driven by 22-year-old Millsboro woman Olga Kilian.

The incident resulted in a head-on collision, according to police.

McGeehan’s vehicle reportedly spun in a counter clockwise direction and faced in an eastward direction while Kilian’s vehicle was also facing east after the collision.

McGeehan was transported to the Beebe Medical Center after sustaining serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Kilian was transported to the Beebe Medical Center where she was treated for her minor injuries.

Along with the felony DUI offense, police say McGeehan was also charged with second degree vehicular assault, driving under the influence negligence causes, failure to have insurance in possession and failed to remain in single lane.

He was committed to the custody of Sussex Correctional Institution on a $12, 101.00 cash bond.
