Community celebrates reopening of Harbeson Post Office with ribbon cutting

HARBESON, Del. – In Sussex County, the community came together to celebrate the opening of the new post office in Harbeson with a ribbon cutting on Friday.

The old post office closed in December 2018 and a new Royal Farms was built in its spot. The new location opened in September at 18865 Harbeson Road. The postmaster tells 47 ABC everyone is excited they’re back serving the community and with vote by mail in full swing, it couldn’t have come at a better time.

“It’s constant. They come in all day long. We open at 7:30 in the morning so people are dropping off their ballots and we get them out immediately. So everything is working great. It really really is,” says Postmaster Anita Koskinas.

Koskinas says many people prefer going to a smaller location because the lines are usually much shorter and they know many of their customers on a first name basis. She says within the next week or two they will have a 24-hour lobby for P.O. Box customers who can’t make it during normal business hours.
