Salisbury Police investigating thefts of and from vehicles

A local police department is advising drivers to stay with their vehicles, while they warm up, to avoid being the victim of a crime. Salisbury Police say over the past several days, they have investigated multiple reports of theft from motor vehicles as well as theft of motor vehicles.
Investigators say purses, cell phones and other easily portable valuables have been taken from parked, unlocked cars, on Pinehurst Avenue, Clairmont Drive, Monticello Avenue and the Riverside Drive, in Salisbury. Police say they are also currently investigating two incidents in the Hazel and Princeton Avenue areas, where vehicles were left running, and stolen seconds later.
Law enforcement is reminding residents to not leave a vehicle running, while it is unattended, as it only takes seconds for a thief to make their move, and take your belongings or your vehicle. Maryland law actually prohibits vehicles to be running, while they are not occupied. The Salisbury Police Department says they recommend braving the cold, and stay with your vehicle while it warms up.
Other prevention tips from SPD include, lock vehicles, and stow valuables out of sight.
