DELAWARE – In Delaware, the newly created Haitian Coalition of Delaware says they’re ready to help amplify voices and get the resources they need.

Members of the group say they started the coalition after the coronavirus magnified several issues many Haitians are facing like language barriers and a lack of resources. They say they want to help address these issues by partnering with organizations and local churches.

On top of that, they’re working to connect with school districts to help families struggling with virtual learning.

“Our mission is basically to advocate and represent the collective voices of the Haitian population living in Delaware so that we can improve their social, educational and economic development and we feel by doing those different things that we’re going to help to advance our community,” said Midline Oware, co-chair of the Haitian Coalition of Delaware.

The group says they’re also looking at creating a resource center in Delaware that will benefit all people.
