Wi-Hi Earn Big 2A Win Over Queen Anne’s

The Wicomico boys basketball team wrapped up their regular season with a huge 2A win at home over Queen Anne’s on senior night 72-66. The win improves the Indians to 11-9, while the loss drops the Lions to 15-5.

The teams would be in a battle early on. The Indians would get a boost offensively from Jojo Brittingham who poured in 7 of his team high 18 in the quarter to help his team to a 20-15 lead. The Lions would then control the second quarter, fueled by Ahmad Gray who registered 8 of his game high 25 points to help his team to a 2 point lead at the break. The Tribe then turned up their defensive pressure in the third quarter, and forced several turnovers with their press for easy scores. Barry Gaines Jr. and Davonta Dixon would get out in transition for a couple baskets as their lead would stretch to 6. Gray continued to do work, adding a couple and ones on the block to keep the game close, while Charles Hynson was able to connect on a couple shots from the outside. With the game still in the balance late, Dixon would score on a long ball, then follow it up with a drive to the rack and finish with his left hand to give his team a cushion. Wi-Hi would then hit freethrows down the stretch to close it out.

Both teams now await for the draw of the state tournament to see who and where they will be playing next.
