Wicomico County one step closer to deciding their Board of Ed.

Wicomico County residents may soon have the right to vote on how their Board of Education members are selected. Last week Senate Bill 145, which would give county citizens the chance to weigh in on that matter during the next election, was passed in the Maryland State House.
If the bill becomes law, citizens would be able to vote on three options during the 2016 election for how the board would be comprised. One, having the Board of Education members all appointed (as they are now). Two, having all the members voted in. Or three, having a hybrid model with a combination of both.
During the interim for the General Assembly, the Wicomico County council held several public meetings in order to gauge public opinion on the matter.
