Handy Takes Over Late As Laurel Tops IR

The Laurel girls basketball team picked up a win at home on senior day Monday afternoon when they defeated Indian River 47-39. The win improves the Bulldogs to 8-9, while the loss drops the Indian to 5-15.

The Bulldogs would jump out to a quick lead led by Logan Handy. The dynamic freshman would score a couple buckets in transition before the road team settled in. Kealey Allison would hit a couple shots, along with Julia Jordan as they would take a small lead into the break. Emanya Beckett would add a couple shots in the 3rd to help Laurel take the lead, before Allison would have the answer for Indian River. Allison got the sideline in bounds pass late in the quarter and pulled up from deep and drilled a three. Handy though would dominate the 4th, connecting a several more shots on her way to a game high 29.

The loss ended the season for Indian River, while Laurel returns to work on Wednesday when they travel to play Lake Forest.
