Contraband intercepted by State Police from ECI

Maryland State Police from the Princess Anne barrack say correction officers intercepted a contraband delivery on its way to a prisoner at Eastern Correctional Institute.
According to troopers, personnel at ECI contacted State Police in reference to an individual attempting to deliver the items on prison grounds.
Troopers say the correctional officers found numerous condoms full of tobacco, totaling 142 grams, and 111 grams of suspected synthetic marijuana from Jordan Scheminant, 23, of Easton, Maryland.
Police say Scheminant was attempting to visit an inmate and provide him with the contraband. After the items were recovered from Scheminant, police say she left ECI. Troopers reportedly located and stopped the vehicle on Route 13 in Princess Anne.
State Police stopped Scheminant, who was arrested and charged with delivering contraband to a correctional facility and was taken before a District Court Commissioner.
According to a release from MSP, Scheminant was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond from the commissioners’ office.
Troopers say this investigation is continuing in cooperation with the Department of Corrections.
