FEMA asks donors to follow donation guidelines

During a time of great need, compassion and generosity of people is more evident.

Agencies like FEMA know this which is why they are asking volunteers follow a few guidelines to ensure their support goes along way to victims of Harvey.

FEMA is asking people not  to donate unsolicited goods such as used clothing clothing, medicines, or perishable food items. We're told when used personal items are donated the helping agencies must redirect their staff to sort items that may not meet survivors needs.

Another good rule of thumb is to donate time or money through a trusted organization.
