Virginians are ready to hit the polls

Virginians are getting ready to hit the polls in the biggest day of the 2016 presidential primary season known as Super Tuesday.
March 1st could be pivotal in the race to the White House.
Senator Bernie Sanders says, “I will be asking for your vote on Tuesday.”
Senator Ted Cruz says, “Our campaign is the only one that is in the position to beat Donald Trump on Super Tuesday.
“I will need your help on Tuesday. I hope you will come out and vote and of course I will be honored to earn your vote,” says Hillary Clinton.
Candidates have been rallying for votes leading up to Super Tuesday. This is the day during the primary season when the most delegate votes are up for grabs as 12 states and one U.S. territory will go to the polls, and Virginia is one of them. Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are leading recent polls in Virginia for their respective parties. The voters we spoke with in Accomack Count reflect the polling.
Angelo Lewis, from Temperanceville says, “She’s been in it for a while so she’s knows basically what’s going on and I like some of her views.”
“She’s been in the White House she’s been here for a while. She’s done a good job. At least know she has for me.” says William Hailey from Horntown.
We spoke with some Trump supporters Monday who declined to comment on camera, but Trump is widely expected to come away with a good chunk of the 1,237 delegates he needs for the Republican nomination. We also spoke with some residents who don’t plan on voting.
“I usually don’t vote because they get whoever I don’t want in anyway,” says Melissa Spears from Horntown.
The Accomack County Board of Elections is hoping for a better voter turnout. In the 2008 primaries they had a 27% turn out of the 21, 046 registered Accomack County voters. This year the county 23, 595 registered voters.
Accomack County will have 17 polls tomorrow and they will be open from 6AM to 7PM. For a list of polling places in Accomack County click here.
