Md. Gov. Larry Hogan says his sister has died

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan says his older sister has died.
The governor announced the death of his sister, Mary Theresa Lazarus, on his public Facebook page Saturday. Hogan spokesman Matt Clark says Lazarus was 66 and that the cause of her death was Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a rare, degenerative brain disorder.
Hogan had left the state Monday to be with his sister. Cark says Lazarus lived in Sherrills Ford, North Carolina.
Hogan said his sister was a mother of three and grandmother to eight grandchildren. He says the entire family is “deeply saddened by our loss” and that “the world was a better place because of her time with us.”
