Ocean City Council votes against SunLite Festival

Sunfest Cancelled

OCEAN CITY, Md. —  The town of Ocean City says they won’t be moving forward with the SunLite Festival concept, which is the alternative event to the popular Sunfest event.

The beach town’s city council voted unanimously 6-0 on Tuesday afternoon, to scrap the idea for the COVID-friendly event, which was slated for October 2nd through the 4th. We’re told the decision came after local businesses showed a lack of interest in participating.

But there’s still hope for those who wish to attend some type of festival in the Fall. The town officials says they’ve transformed the town-organized event to a smaller scaled one, which will be run by Trimper’s Rides and the downtown association.

The council mentioned that the Sun-LITE event was not completely planned out – making the decision to part ways easier.
