Hawks Offense Stalls As Howard Completes Upset

The University of Maryland Eastern Shore women’s basketball team saw their season come to an end on Monday when they loss in the first round of the MEAC tournament to Howard 68-51. The Hawks took a slim lead into the halftime, but the offense stalled in the second half as the Bison ran away with the game down the stretch.
The Hawks came out red hot from the field. Taryanna Kelly scored on a couple put backs, and then Moy Subritzky got going. She connected on two lay ins, followed by a couple long balls as UMES opened up a double digit lead. Everything was working early for the offense as Alexis Hicks would then get into the action, scoring on a couple mid range pull ups. While the Bison struggled in the half court set, they were able to get out in transition for a couple easy buckets to hang around in the game thanks to 22 turnover from the Hawks. Then in the second quarter, fouls began to mount for UMES as the Bison would go on a run to claw their way within one point at the half. The teams continued to battle in the third quarter as Howard would continue to score a couple buckets to take a lead into the 4th quarter. There the Hawks would find themselves down around 6, before the Bison connected on short jumpers on 5 straight possessions to put the game away.
