Sussex County EMS Achieves Silver Status

One area first responder agency is being nationally recognized. 

The Sussex County EMS division has been given silver status.

The award comes from the American Heart Association for the agency's work in saving people who suffer from heart attacks.

The award also recognizes workers at the Nanticoke hospital because of the cooperation between them and  paramedics. 

The Deputy Director of Sussex County's EMS, Jeff Cox, who says his team has exceeded expectations. 

"The benchmarks that they set, we were expected to meet 75% of the time,and we met those benchmarks 98% for one category and 90% for another category."

Sussex County's EMS division along with Nanticoke Hospital were presented with the award today by the County Council.

Cox says his department plans to apply for the award again next year.
