Easton man arrested following burglary and assault

On Sunday around 4:20AM, Easton Police say they responded to the 600 Block of Lomax Street in reference to a burglary in progress.

Officers report they were told that an unknown subject was trying to make entry into the home and that a window had been broken.

Two women apparently escaped from the home through a window on the opposite side of the building.

When officers arrived, they met with the person who called in the complaint. According to the report, this person said that her friend’s boyfriend, later identified as 27-year-old Shaun Clayton of Easton, had forced his way into the home earlier that morning and had assaulted her friend.

Clayton then apparently left the home, only to return shortly after when he broke a window on the side of the house to try to get in again.

Officers in the area where able to find Clayton in the area of Dover Road and Tred Avon Avenue where he was placed under arrest.

In the report, Clayton is listed to have been charged with the following:

  • 1st, 3rd and 4th degree burglary
  • Assault 2nd degree
  • 2 counts of malicious destruction of property

Clayton was ordered held in the Talbot County Detention center on $30,000 Bond.
