Delmar woman arrested for domestic stabbing

On Sunday, the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack says they responded to Peninsula Regional Medical Center to speak with the victim of a stabbing.

Troopers with the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division were contacted to take over the investigation, and were helped by the Maryland State Police Salisbury Barrack, and members of the Wicomico Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say they learned James Parrott, 31, the victim, and the suspect Denys Powell, 39, both of Delmar, were in a relationship and lived together at their home on East State Street.  

According to the report, late Sunday morning, Parrott and Powell had an argument at their home, during which Powell grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed Parrott in the back as he was trying to leave. .

Parrott apparently left the home and contacted family members for medical help before being taken to PRMC, where he was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say that the home where the incident happened was processed by investigators, leading to the recovery of evidence related to the crime.

Powell was arrested and charged with first degree assault, and related charges, and taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center.
