Delaware Electric shows how dangerous work can be

Delaware State Fair is all about safety first and that's exactly the message Delaware Electric Cooperative is putting out .

The electric company has an area where they are showing people just how dangerous their job is and how they stay safe doing it.

As part of their live display they show how they rescue fellow workers and how they fixed tripped wires.

They even showed how dangerous live downed wires can be using a hot dog as an example.

Steve Huffman, from the Delaware Electric Co-op, says, "It is extremely dangerous as you can see they all had their PPUEN which is personal protective equipment, hard hat rubber gloves and sleeves, we do every thing we do here at Delaware Electric first, is safety."

The Co-op advises anyone who sees a downed wire to call police first. If you've missed them at the fair, you can catch their demonstration again, Thursday night and Friday night at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
