Fifer Orchards’ Peach Dessert Contest at the Del. State Fair

Del. residents enter unique dishes for the peach recipe competition.

Wednesday, folks at the Delaware State Fair got creative using an ingredient that is in season, we're talking about peaches.

The Culinary Department at the fair and Fifer Orchards held a peach a recipe competition.

Judges tasted a variety of dishes from peach and crab salad, peach BBQ sauce, and an upside peach cake.

"We look at the appearance and how it looks when it is served. Does it cut well? Is it completely done in the inside. Is everything the way it should be?  We look at the texture, of course the taste is number one and how creative it is," says Trina Stump, the Assistant Superintendent at the Culinary Department at the Delaware State Fair. The winner of the competition, was a resident from Seaford who entered a peaches and cream cake. There is still plenty of time to enter one of the Delaware state fair's cooking and baking competitions."

Thursday there will be a cookie competition. Anyone interested in entering a baked good is asked to check in by 10:15 AM.
