Milford woman reportedly violated court order twice in the same day

Veronica Hurtt, 29, of Milford

A Milford woman was arrested after police say she violated a no contact order twice, on Thursday.

The Milford Police Department says they responded to a home, just after 4 AM, in the unit block of Northwest Second Street, for a report of a violation of a no contact order, in Milford. An investigation revealed that 29-year-old Veronica Hurtt of Milford, reportedly tried to enter the victims home. According to the report, Hurtt was previously issued a no contact order on July 12. Police say that they arrested Hurtt in the nearby area, and she was issued another no contact order, after being charged with breach of release. She was later released on a $1,000 unsecured bond.

Later that day, just after 9 AM, police say they responded to another call form the victim stating that Hurtt had returned to the home, and was able to get inside. Police learned that Hurtt had damaged several things inside the home, and fled the scene before they arrived. Authorities were unable to find Hurtt after searching the nearby area, so they issued a warrant.

According to the report, the Milford Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting, around 4 PM, at a Dollar General in the 600 block of north DuPont Boulevard. Once on scene, Police learned from Dollar General staff that a suspect matching Hurtt's description reportedly removed the items without paying for them. Hurtt was finally arrested in the area of West Street and Northwest Sixth Street. Hurtt reportedly had drug paraphernalia in her possession at the time of her arrest.

She was charged with burglary second degree, harassment, criminal mischief, and two counts of breach of release for violation of the no contact order for the incident around 9AM.  A $6,500 secured bail was set for the incidents related to the violation of the no contact orders, and $550 unsecured bail was set for the Dollar General incident. Hurtt was issued another no contact order with the victim, along with a no contact order with Dollar General. She was then turned over to the Sussex Correctional Institution.
