Fire company in Dorchester Co. seeks expanded private ramp access for rescue boat
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – In Dorchester County, the Neck District Volunteer Fire Company is desperately searching for people willing to share their private boat ramps with them during an emergency situation.
The fire company says they’re getting more and more calls for water rescue each year.
But they say they don’t have enough access to the area they cover, which includes the Little Choptank River, the Chesapeake Bay and the Choptank River.
They say the more access they have the better their response time will be during the event of an emergency.
“The more access we have, the better we can service our community, the faster we can get out to help the people when they’re in need,” said Captain Brian Holliday at the Neck District Volunteer Fire Company.
