Cabin Fever Play Centre remains closed, asks state for more guidance
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – “We were closed right in the midst of our busiest season and we’ve had to cancel over a hundred birthday parties,” said Jessica LaPerch, owner of Cabin Fever Play Centre in Cambridge.
“We’ve had no revenue whatsoever,” said LaPerch.
Cabin Fever Play Centre in Cambridge says they’ve been shut down for months and there’s still been no mention on when they can reopen.
The owner of this indoor playground Jessica LaPerch says there hasn’t been enough guidance from the state and that its road map to recovery isn’t entirely helpful.
“I might be able to kind of say, well maybe I’ll be classified as this business, but it’s not really right in there at all, so I can’t plan for reopening,” said LaPerch.
“I don’t know when that’s going to happen and it’s just been a really tough time,” said LaPerch.
LaPerch says she’s facing too much uncertainty right now and that she needs to reopen her business as soon as possible in order to survive.
“I would like to open to some capacity even if it’s just private groups or private parties, just something so I have some sort of income coming in, so we don’t have to close our doors for good,” said LaPerch.
And parents we spoke to tell us they’re in support of this business reopening.
“You see restaurants and salons opening at these half capacities, and I think it’s really important to remember the businesses in our community for our children,” said Whitney Flower, a Trappe resident.
Cabin Fever Play Centre says they’re losing about 20,000 dollars each month.
47ABC reached out to the governor’s office for a statement on this, but we have not yet heard back.
