Community members host virtual Memorial Day ceremony

DOVER, Del. – In Kent County, several organizations found creative ways to celebrate Memorial Day with a virtual ceremony.

The Kent County Chapter 850, the Vietnam Veterans of America and the Veterans Story Project teamed up to create this virtual ceremony today.

We’re told different community leaders were individually taped before today for the ceremony.

The ceremony also included a roll call of Kent Countians who lost their lives in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Middle East.

Organizers tell us they were going to do everything in their power to honor fallen soldiers and their families while following safety guidelines.

“We hope that the viewers take the time out today, do what you’re gonna do, but keep in mind those people and those families who didn’t come back,” said Dave Skocik, public affairs officer for Delaware’s VVA Council.

“Pray for them, keep them in your thoughts,” said Skocik.

For those who missed out on Monday’s virtual ceremony, they can find a video of the ceremony by clicking here.
