Delaware to release new state IDs

The Delaware DMV has announced that it will release a new, more secure, card design that contains state-of-the-art security features.

New features include the display of Legislative Hall on the front of the license, a new look for the federally compliant gold star and a blue hen on the back of the card.

The new IDs will also have images of the First State Flag and State Seal.

State officials say the new design is important so that residents can better protect their information.

"It's very important that Delaware took a step forward in regards to creating this new design, for the idea, because of identity theft, which has become such a problem, not just in Delaware, but across the country," said Delaware State Senator Ernie Lopez (D-6).

The new IDs will be released on June 4; therefore, both card designs will be in circulation until 2026.
