Locals hoping to eRace The Stigma of mental illness

A race, a 5K run and one mile walk called eRace The Stigma started four years ago and it will happen again on Saturday, May 12, 2018.

Event organizers say that about 200 hundred people will be participating and they will be a part of the effort to erase the stigma that comes with mental illness.

"i think mental illness is more prominent than people realize I've found that out with more people I've talked to seems like everybody knows someone or has a family member that also suffers from mental illness or addiction," explains Lynn Sande, the race director.

All proceeds will go towards providing financial support to those in need going through treatment whether for mental illness or addiction.

Sign ups are still available on the day of the race, May 12th. This year they will also be hosting a mental health expo with nearly two dozen vendors on the Salisbury plaza.

The race starts at 9 a.m. on the Downtown Salisbury Plaza, 231 W. Main Street, but registration begins at 7:30 a.m.
