Salisbury teen arrested for allegedly carrying a handgun

Deputies say that a 17-year-old was arrested on gun charges in Salisbury last Friday.

According to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, on Friday at 8:15 a.m., a deputy stopped a car on Pemberton Drive at Nanticoke Road that a suspect was a passenger of after the driver of that vehicle reportedly made a turn prohibited by a traffic control device.

During the encounter, officials say that the deputy saw what he recognized as the outline of a firearm in the suspect's pants pocket. Investigators say that the suspect had a loaded nine millimeter semi-automatic handgun concealed on his person.

Following the seizure of the handgun, the deputy placed the suspect under arrest. The deputy transported the suspect to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and charged as an adult.

Following a first appearance, the Commissioner detained the suspect in the Detention Center in lieu of $20,000 bond on handgun on a person, handgun in a vehicle, possession of a firearm by a minor and possession of a concealed deadly weapon.
