Open for Business: Local business in Rehoboth Beach impacted by pandemic
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – In Rehoboth Beach, the Conch Island Key West Bar and Grill says they’ve been significantly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
The owner Brian Derrickson says that offering dine-in services has been a critical part of his business. Now he’s depending on takeout as well as online engagement to help keep business afloat.
Derrickson says he’s already lost thousands of dollars during the pandemic and he believes there are ways for businesses like his to safely offer dine-in services.
“We’re 5,000 square feet, we can certainly spread people out,” said Derrickson.
“We’re already allowed to prepare food and do that as a takeout form, why they can’t sit and dine is questionable to me,” said Derrickson.
Derrickson says he believes it’s imperative for businesses to be able to safely reopen sooner rather than later.
